VLC is the app that allows you to play basically any video format on practically any of the platform. It is now all set to add support for a new medium. The company has recently unveiled a Technical Preview that enables its desktop app to support 360 Degree video.
The preview is available currently for Mac and Windows. The full version will arrive with VLC 3.0 ans is expected to be launch at the end of the month.
VideoLan the creator of VLC has teamed up with 360 Degree camera maker Giroptic. The product of this collaboration VLC 3.0 will be able to display Photos, Videos and Panoramas. Users can use their mouse and keyboard to control his point of view in the footage. VideoLan has said that they will add all these features available on their mobile app as well. The Company also said that it will support VR handsets as Oculus Rift, Google Daydreams and HTC vive in 2017.
The app is getting 360 Degree audio support adding “Head Tracking Headphones”.( Required time is not mentioned). The company has also mentioned that future release of VLC with 360 feature will soon be available for Android, iOS and Xbox one users.
Since We all know that it is just a technical review, the expected buyers should temper their expectation as it might be buggy. If everything goes better it would be worth watching to get the review of the users and that too with the good reviews.
