5th September 2016, Launch of Reliance Jio was a hit show for almost all Indians. During the launch event Mukesh Ambani Founder of Reliance Jio network has said that Reliance Jio will achieve the target of 100 million users by the end of this fiscal year.
Since then Reliance Jio has been adding 6 lakh customers per day. With this speed Reliance Jio has achieved half of its target in just 83 days.
Reliance is offering free voice and data services since launch. This blasting offer has forced public to line up in queue to get their free Reliance Jio sim. Although the initial cutoff date was 31st December for the free services. There are reports however that this may be extended till 31st March 2017 to reach the goal of 100 million users.
According to some reports Jio has been adding nearly one thousand customer per minute.
Some reports has also been saying that Jio is planning to launch feature phones with the price tag of 999 for rural areas. These phones will be 4G capable, Video calling, Voice calling, and will have basic Jio services as well. The phone will also support Voice over LTE (VoLTE)) technology.
I have no doubt about Reliance Jio reaching its target of having 100 million users. But the thing which matters is holding the user base for as long as possible. Seeing the service quality of the company it seems very difficult to hold the entire user base for even some time. Reaching the milestone is good but if Reliance Jio is successful in keeping the customers with it, Then only this will be a real win.
